Texas FFA State Convention
Posted By: Brandon Callis   7/22/2015
Eleven members of the Knippa FFA Chapter developed their leadership skills while having some fun at the Texas FFA State Convention, held in Corpus Christi, Texas July 11-17.  While in Corpus, the officers, state qualifiers, and a few ambitious seventh graders visited the beach, a go cart track, and the mall.  But aside from the relaxation and exploration, the group also spent time at the convention center, hearing inspirational speeches from the Texas FFA State Officer team, keynote speakers, and even Governor Greg Abbott.  While none of our students crossed the stage for scholarships or awards this year, over $2 Million was awarded to deserving seniors and many other students received recognition for their hard work in entrepreneurship, service, and their pursuit of the agricultural sciences.  Matthew Phillips made a valiant run for state officer, but was knocked out prematurely in the new state officer election process.  The Knippa students voted on important business of the organization and helped elect the new State Officer Team.  The week was full of ups and downs, but on the return trip, you could tell that the kids from Knippa have ideas and a desire to implement them.  It is time for them to Rise!
